NWA says it will ensure commuters not hampered when Southern Coastal Highway project begins

Stephen Shaw, Communication Manager at the NWA
The National Works Agency (NWA) has said it will ensure commuters are not hampered in travelling between Kingston and St. Thomas when the Southern Coastal Highway Improvement Project gets underway.
Ground was broken on Saturday for the multi-billion dollar project.
Stephen Shaw, Communication Manager at the NWA, said traffic management will be crucial given the importance of the road.
"We do not envisage a situation where persons will be inconvenienced in such a way that there'll be no access, given the fact that this is the chief corridor between Morant Bay and Kingston, and if you want to go further, from Port Antonio leading into Morant Bay," he said.
However, Mr. Shaw noted that a traffic management plan has not yet been approved.
