A mass shooting in the St Andrew North Police Division Saturday morning left a man dead and eight persons injured.
The shooting happened in the community of Donmair, popularly known as Common.
The police are trying to verify the identity of the man killed.
Senior Superintendent Stephanie Lindsay, who heads the Corporate Communications Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force, told Radio Jamaica News that persons were "playing games" on the road when the gunmen struck shortly after midnight.
"The investigators are not yet sure what was the motivation behind the attack," she said, adding that they are pursuing "several lines of enquiry, based on what has been happening in the area, and the victims."
