One victim of Mandeville gas station fire dies

One of the victims in Friday's major fire at the gas station in Mandeville has died.

He has been identified as 59 year old Daniel Farquaharson, a businessman of Hatfield, Manchester.

Mr Farquaharson died at the University Hospital of the West Indies Saturday evening after being transferred from Mandeville Hospital with major burns. This was confirmed by his son who spoke with Radio Jamaica News.

Mr Farquaharson operated a garage in Hatfield and sometimes worked for the FESCO gas station. He was among ten people who sustained injuries when fire engulfed the fuel dispensing area of the service station Friday afternoon.

A six year-old child was among the injured.

Eleven vehicles on the property were destroyed or extensively damaged in the blaze.
