PNP denounces 'fake' WhatsApp conversation appearing to involve Mark Golding

Opposition Leader Mark Golding, speaking with Beyond the Headlines host Dionne Jackson Miller

The People's National Party (PNP) has denounced the circulation of a fake WhatsApp conversation purportedly involving Opposition Leader Mark Golding.

In a news release Friday afternoon, the PNP said it was a desperate and defamatory act which has been concocted to divert public attention from the wage negotiations with government-paid employees.

The release said the matter has been reported to the Cybercrime Unit of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.

In an interview on Radio Jamaica's Beyond the Headlines on Friday afternoon, Mr. Golding again addressed the issue, calling it was a despicable and disgusting tactic devised to "try and muddy the waters and create red herrings and distract the public".

He said he had also reported the matter to the Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA).
