Police credit ZOSO for reducing crime in Mount Salem

Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of Area One headquarters
Despite the challenges being experienced by the police, Assistant Commissioner Clifford Chambers, head of Area One, has given credit to the Zone of Special Operations for the reduction in crime in Mount Salem, St. James.
He said the community has been transformed by the resources being pumped into it as well as the skills training taking place.
"ZOSO works. The clear, hold and build construct works, because for the last three years or so, there were only three major crimes in Mount Salem and so that can be looked on as a system that can be implemented and rolled out in other communities," he suggested.
But ACP Chambers said lottery scamming continues to be a problem for the police in western Jamaica.
He told Beyond the Headlines host Dionne Jackson Miller on Tuesday that it is influencing violent crime in St. James.
