The police say charges will soon be laid against the suspects in custody for the killing of four-year-old Chloe Brown in Freeman's Hall, Trelawny.

Three persons, including a relative of the child, were detained following Monday's shooting.

Superintendent Kirk Ricketts, head of the Trelawny police, says the investigation is at an advanced stage.

He urged residents of the community to allow the police to do their job "and not to take anything in their own hands."

It was reported that shortly after 1 o'clock Monday morning, Chloe and her father were at home when he was called outside.

When he opened the door, there was a tussle and he was shot in the leg.

Chloe was shot in the abdomen.
