A constable attached to the Seaforth Police station in St. Thomas has been charged with illegal possession of ammunition.
Domoro Shaw was arrested last week Tuesday following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
He faced the St. Thomas Parish Court on Thursday and was offered bail in the sum of $200,000.
The allegations stem from Constable Shaw's time with the now disbanded Mobile Reserve in Kingston.
He reportedly left his knapsack in a locker and on retrieving it, found 21 rounds of ammunition inside.
The policeman reportedly disclosed the find, but was later arrested.
His attorney Hensley Williams in applying for bail, expressed surprise at the ruling of the DPP, pointing out that his client handed over the ammunition.
Constable Shaw will return to court on April 5 next year.
