Private hospitals could begin administering COVID-19 vaccines next week

The Ministry of Health & Wellness expects that COVID-19 vaccines could be available at some private hospitals by the end of  next week.

Administering of  the vaccine has so far mostly been done through the public healthcare system.

However, the ministry has now made a request for quotes from private facilities that wish to administer shots.

Health & Wellness Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton said on Tuesday that application period will end today.

He said the vaccines will continue to be administered free of cost recipients at the private sites.

Dr Melody Ennis, Director of  Family Health Services in the Ministry, said there should be vaccination sites at six hospitals by the end of  the month.
