Chaos reigned for a while in the early afternoon around the Jamaican Supreme Court on King Street in downtown Kingston on Thursday afternoon as supporters of entertainer Vybz Kartel converged on the court and disrupted the order that had been established around the courthouse.
Approximately 500 supporters of the deejay who is on trial for murder, broke through police barricades and pushed their way right up to the gates of the courthouse, chanting "Free Vybz Kartel!"
Police reinforcements were called in to restore order.
The disturbance took place during the lunch break.
