The Trelawny Police are searching for robbers who attempted to pry open an automated banking machine (ABM) on Market Street Wednesday morning.
The incident took place about 2 o'clock.
It was reported that when the police arrived at the scene, they were fired on by men carrying rifles.
This led to a shootout, however the men escaped.
The ABM was damaged, but no cash was removed.
