Santa Cruz councillor calls for businesses to join Jamaica Eye programme

Christopher Williams, Councillor for the Santa Cruz Division in St. Elizabeth
Councillor Christopher Williams of the Santa Cruz Division has called for business operators in the area to cooperate with the government in providing service to the Jamaica Eye programme.
His call follows Wednesday attempted robbery in the town in which a security guard was fatally shot and two others injured.
Mr. Williams says many of the businesses in the commercial centre are equipped with cameras however, not all are linked to Jamaica Eye.
"In fighting crime and violence in our society, technology will have to play an important role," he remarked, as he urged the government "do whatever needs to be done" to hasten the development of the Jamaica Eye programme.
The St. Elizabeth Police say they are receiving support from owners of closed circuit cameras in the area where the incident took place on Wednesday.
