Deputy Superintendent Romeo Henry, the officer in charge of Zone 2 in St. Mary

The search is continuing for the second of two girls who were washed away during heavy rain Thursday afternoon in Jobs Hill, St. Mary.

Fourteen-year-old Hallekaye Smikle and her 10-year-old sister, Kiwana Ricketts, were with their mother at the river when they were washed away about 2:30 p.m.

The body of 10-year-old Kiwana Ricketts was found Friday morning along the river bank in Jobs Hill.

The police, Jamaica Defence Force and community members are searching for the other child.

Deputy Superintendent Romeo Henry, the officer in charge of Zone 2 in St. Mary, said the team has experienced challenges during their pursuit to locate the other girl.

In one instance, he said the team stopped its search in the Jobs Hill area after reports that Hallekaye's body was seen in Castleton.

After relocating the search to that community, the team realised there was no body and it had received a prank call.
