St. Andrew wanted man shot dead by police in Montego Bay

A man, said to be wanted in connection with a double murder last month in Stony Hill, St. Andrew, was on Monday shot dead during a police operation at the Mango Walk Country Club in Montego Bay, St. James.

The police say he used the names Kimani Brown and Damian Mitchell.

A firearm and 16 cartridges were seized during the operation.

Five other people were taken into custody, including a man said to also be wanted for the double murder.

The police say one of the detainees is a person of interest in a case of shooting on Constant Spring Road in St. Andrew.

Two women of Kingston 19 addresses were among those detained.

About 6:30 p.m. the police entered one of the town houses at the Mango Walk Country Club.

It alleged that a man, who was found in a bathroom, pointed a firearm at members of the police team.

He was shot and later pronounced dead at hospital.
