St. Ann man sentenced to a month in prison for illegal gun possession

A man who pleaded guilty to possession of an illegal gun was recently sentenced to one month in prison in St. Ann.
Jamar Bartley of Hollywood in Steer Town, St. Ann had previously been sentenced to nine months in prison after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition before the St. Ann Parish Court.
In passing the sentence, however, the judge took into consideration Bartley has been in custody since July 2020.
The police had arrested Bartley during a flare up in gun violence in Steer Town.
