The St. Catherine Health Services has wrapped up its inspection of nursing homes and the infirmary in the parish.
Chief Public Health Inspector for St. Catherine Grayson Hutchinson said all staff and residents at the facilities were tested for COVID-19.
A total of 371 staff at nursing homes and 522 residents were tested, with 26 staff members and 33 residents testing positive.
At the St. Catherine Infirmary in Spanish Town 67 staff members and 106 residents were tested, with four staff members testing positive. Mr. Hutchinson said no resident of the infirmary was found to have the virus.
He gave those details at Thursday's meeting of the Public Health and Sanitation Committee of the St. Catherine Municipal Corporation.
The St. Catherine Health Services is to team with the municipal corporation to carry out targeted community surveillance and testing for COVID-19 before the end of November.
Mr. Hutchinson said bus and taxi operators as well as conductors will be the focus of the surveillance.
He said health teams have been carrying out testing in various communities, including Frazer's Content, while others, like Linstead, are scheduled for surveillance.
