St. Vincent & The Grenadines condemns latest Israeli military action

The Government of St. Vincent & the Grenadines has condemned the latest military action taken by Israel against the Palestinians in East Jerusalem and Gaza.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Vincentian Government of Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves added that it condemns "unilateral actions of the Israeli authorities with respect to Palestinian land".

St. Vincent & the Grenadines, it said, "stands steadfastly against any attempts to alter the character and the status of the Holy City of Jerusalem, by force".

It reiterated that the United Nations Security Council "has affirmed a vision of a region where two states, Israel and Palestine, live side by side within secure and recognized borders."

That two-state solution, the statement stressed, has been constantly reaffirmed by the international community.

It added that St. Vincent & the Grenadines, as an elected member of the UN Security Council and a member of the UN General Assembly, "will continue to stand against these violations of United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions."

The Vincentian Government is urging even greater diplomatic efforts to bring the present conflict to an end and to promote a lasting solution to the problems between the Israel and Palestine.
