Three men who robbed patrons at a bar on Old Harbour Road in St. Catherine were taken into custody on Thursday by the St. Catherine North Police following a high speed chase and gun battle.
Two of the men were shot.
A firearm was seized.
It was reported that sometime after 1:00 p.m., a police team travelling in a service vehicle was alerted to the robbery.
They spotted a vehicle with the three suspects on Featherbed Lane and began chase.
Nigel Morgan, Director of Complaints at INDECOM's Southern Region, said it is alleged that the occupants of the car opened gunfire on the police and a there was a shootout.
The suspects then crashed into a wall at the intersection of Redcam Crescent and Faithview road. However, they alighted the vehicle and continued to fire at the police, who returned gunfire.
The driver was held a few yards from the vehicle, and the other two men were held nearby.
