At least one trade union has promised more agitation this year to get representation for non-traditional areas of work.
Senator Kavan Gayle, President General of the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union (BITU), is advancing these as objectives for the union that will benefit its members as well as employers.
Senator Gayle said while there are other plans to be implemented, there are some which take prominence.
"We also are going to be placing a great emphasis on education and development of our members where they are in a position to up-skill themselves and also to retool themselves," he noted.
He said the union will also be promoting more pension scheme arrangements for workers.
Senator Gayle disclosed that another area of focus will be the mobilisation of incentives to increase productivity among workers.
