The Jamaica Constabulary Force has identified the district constable killed on Friday in Allman Town, Kingston as 36 year old Kemar Armstrong.
Constable Armstrong was shot at his home on Emily Lane about 5:30.
He later died in hospital.
A report from the JCF said the policeman was recently transferred to the Community Safety and Security Branch.
Constable Armstrong's death took place 12 hours after the killing of Detective Constable Paul Gordon who was hit on the head with a stone in Linstead.
