Vybz Kartel and co-convicts will on Monday seek leave to apply to UK based Privy Council

The Vybz Kartel murder case is moving to its final stage, as the entertainer and his fellow convicts are attempting to appeal the matter before the UK Privy Council.

Vybz Kartel, whose given name is Adidjah Palmer, along with Shawn Campbell, Kahira Jones and Andre St John, have sought leave from the Court of  Appeal to take their matter to the UK Privy Council.

The proceedings are to begin on Monday.

In April all four men lost their appeals in the Court of Appeal. The three-member panel ruled unanimously that the appeals be refused and their convictions be affirmed, but a minor deduction was made in their sentences because of the time they spent in custody prior to sentencing.

The men have now all filed applications for leave to appeal to the Privy Council.

For these proceedings there has been a change in representation.

Paomer is now represented by Isat Buchanan and Shawn Campbell by Bert Samuels, while John Clarke is the attorney for Kahira Jones and Andre St John.
