Wrecker companies warned against charging exorbitant fees to tow vehicles

Wrecker companies which have been charging above the approved fees for towing vehicles seized by the Transport Authority have been warned to immediately desist from the practice.

The Authority issued a news release Thursday stating that it has received complaints against some wrecker companies.

It said strong action will be taken against companies which continue to charge exorbitant fees.

The Transport Authority said the companies will be suspended from towing vehicles.

Persons who have been charged excessive fees have been asked to contact the Transport Authority.

According to the entity, the charge for towing under a 5 kilometer radius is $8,000 for motor cars and $15,000 for buses.
