CARICOM Heads urged to pursue solutions to societal breakdown

Antigua & Barbuda's Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, has called for greater efforts to be made in addressing societal breakdown within the Caribbean 
 
He was addressing CARICOM Heads at the 2nd Regional Symposium on Crime and Violence as a Public Health Issue, held in Guyana.
 
Prime Minister Browne said leaders in the Community need to focus on a total re-culturing of households and the broader society
 
He called for an increase in public education at an early stage to promote positive reinforcement among youth, in an effort to assist in dealing with the issue of crime and violence. 
 
He further emphasised the need for governments to act swiftly to prevent the penetration of gangs within schools.
 
The Heads are expected to issue a Communique on the outcome of the Symposium on Crime and Violence as a Public Health Issue.
