The Barbados-based Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), is sending a two-person team to Suriname to assess the impact of flooding caused by recent heavy rainfall.
The CDEMA team is led by its Programme Manager, for Preparedness and Response, Joanne Persad.
The one-week mission will assess the situation on the ground and help with determining the response and humanitarian needs of the country.
The rains, which began in March, severely affected crops, roads, electricity, housing and schools.
