Trinidad and Tobago has been put on high alert for an outbreak of leptospirosis, following an increase in rainfall activity.
The Medical fraternity has warned that if left untreated, leptospirosis can lead to organ failure and even death.
Medical microbiologist Dr Rajeev Nagassar says it is commonly seen in tropical regions where the risk of contracting the disease increases during the rainy season.
