Arnett Gardens and Vere United earned their first three points of the 2021-22 Jamaica Premier League (JPL) season after recording victories over former champions Portmore United and Molynes United respectively on Tuesday at the captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.
In the opening game of the double header all three goals came in the first half as Arnett got by Portmore United 2-1.
Portmore took an early lead as Shai Smith score his second of the season to make in 1-0 in the 7th minute.
However, Ronald Cephas leveled things for Arnett before Kimani Arbouine struck from distance to make it 2-1 before half-time.
With both teams failing to score in the second stanza Arnett wrapped up their first victory of the season, having lost by a similar scoreline to Cavalier last week.
Portmore in the meantime only half a point from their 1-1 draw with tivoli gardens in their opening game.
The second game only produced a goal and it came from the penalty spot when Javier Brown converted in the 29th minute to give Vere United all three points against Molynes United.
With victories for Arnett and Vere United, it means only Montego Bay United are yet to register a point after two rounds, while Molynes United, Portmore, Harbour View and Humble Lion have all drawn one match and lost one.
Mount Pleasant, Dunbeholden and Waterhouse have won both their encounters so far.
