ASAJ disappointed with postponement of World Short Course Swimming Champs

Voice of ASAJ president Martin Lyn

President of the Aquatic Sports Association of Jamaica (ASAJ), Martin Lyn has expressed displeasure at Thursday's announcement by FINA to postpone the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Abu Dhabi by a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The competition will now be held from December 13-18, 2021.

4-time Olympian Alia Akinston has secured all 10 of Jamaica's medals at the World Short Course Swimming Championships between 2012 and 2018, comprising 4 gold, 4 silver and 2 bronze. FINA also revealed that the World Aquatics Convention will also take place in Abu Dhabi from December 10-12, 2021.

FINA had previously rescheduled the 2021 Aquatics World Championships in Fukuoka to May 13-29, 2022 to avoid a clash with the postponed Tokyo Olympics.
