Atkinson lands 50m breaststroke title at World Swimming Champs

Reigning RJR Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year, Alia Atkinson continued her dominance of the short course circuit winning the women's 50m breaststroke event at the World Swimming Championship in China on Wednesday. Atkinson who turned 30 on Tuesday, sped to victory in 29.05 seconds, delivering on her favorite’s tag.

Ruta Meilutyte of Lituaina took second in 29.38 while third went to Martina Carraro of Italy in 29.59 seconds. The win marked Atkinson's first hold on the short 50m breaststroke title, having who silver in 2012, 2014 and 2016.
