Former West Indies captain and batting great Brian Lara has been appointed performance mentor and will work across all West Indies international teams and will have an input in the Cricket West Indies (CWI) Academy.
Lara is currently with the senior team in Zimbabwe ahead of the two test series which starts on February 4 in Bulawayo.
The Trinidadian who has scored over 22,000 international runs for the Windies with 53 centuries and 111 half centuries, was recently part of a three member independent review panel following the first round exit from the T20 World Cup.
The panel in their 34 recommendations, indicated to CWI that a core of players should be selected within the next 60 days for the 2024 T20 World Cup as well as several of the white ball players such as Rovman Powell, Brandon King and Odean Smith should be part of the red ball teams going forward to upskill their talent levels.
