Big Jule romps to emphatic victory in feature event

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

Classic campaigner Big Jule, ridden by 6-time former champion jockey Omar Walker and trained by Ian Parsard, romped to an emphatic victory in Saturday's feature United Racehorse Trainers Association Trophy over 9 furlongs and 25 yards at Caymanas Park.

The race was confined to native bred and imported 3 year olds. Big Jule, the 7-5 second choice, came home in a minute-fifty-five-and-one-fifth, winning by 10-and-a-half lengths.

Former champion jockeys Shane Ellis and Christopher Mamdeen each had a double on the programme.

Champion conditioner Anthony "Baba” Nunes who regained the lead in the trainers' championship last week, saddled Sparkle Diamond to victory in the final event to maintain his lead over Jason DaCosta who went winless.

Racing continues on Sunday with a  9 race card starting at 12:15 pm.
