Noted biochemist and researcher, Professor Rachael Irving is insisting on the testing of the nation's track and field athletes before they begin to travel again to compete.
She’s warning that any resumption of competition without testing for covid-19 could be catastrophic.
Irving says widescale testing must be done before competitive sports returns.
Irving says this approach can be done for elite track and field athletes who may need to travel to compete in the near future.
Coach Maurice Wilson who runs the GC Foster College-based Sprintec Track Club, agrees with the widescale testing of athletes, but says he still wouldn't be comfortable with his athletes travelling even if they are tested.
