A 14-1 mild upset was created in Saturday's 47th running of the Gold Cup, the feature event for 3 year old and up Open Allowance and Graded Stakes runners over 7 furlongs at Caymanas Park.

Derby and St Leger winner Calculus under jockey Paul "Country" Francis for trainer Gary Subratie, prevailed comfortably in the $1.5 million contest.

The 3 year old bay colt who ran with a mere 109 pounds, came home in a minute, twenty-five seconds flat to win by three-and-a-quarter lengths.

The ante-post favourite Mahogany was declared a late non-starter. Subratie had a double among the trainers, while there were two wins for jockey Robert Halledeen.
