Defending champions Cavalier got the new campaign off to the perfect start as they defeated Arnett Gardens 2-1 as the new season of the Jamaica Premier League kicked-off on Sunday at the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence at UWI Mona.
With the first 45 minutes of the season failing to produce a goal, Jamoi Topey opened the scoring for Cavalier 15 minutes into the second half. The game lit up in added time as Chavany Willis equalized in the 6th minute of stoppage time.
But a minute later, Shaniel Thomas found the winner for Cavalier to give them all three points.
In the other game of the double header, Waterhouse came from behind to beat the returning Montego Bay United 2-1.
Giovanni Reid sent Mo Bay in front in the 67th minute.
However, a penalty from Andre Fletcher in the 72nd and Devroy Grey's 81st minute strike gave Waterhouse the win.
The competition continues on Monday with Vere United taking on Dunbeholden and Portmore United opposing Tivoli Gardens.
