Change of dates for 2021 classic campaign

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The 2021 local racing calendar has been revised with change of dates for the Triple Crown Series and also a reduction in the distance for two other major races on the schedule.

The 1000 Guineas for native bred 3 year old fillies was scheduled to get the Triple Crown series underway on July 3 but this has now been brought forward to Saturday, June 5.

The colts and geldings will face the starter in the 2000 Guineas also over a mile the following day, Sunday, June 6.

The Jamaica St Leger which was adjusted to form the second leg of the series since last year, is now set for Saturday, July 3, instead of the original date of August 7.

The final and most prestigious leg, the Jamaica Derby had been set for September 4, but will instead take place on Independence Day, Friday, August 6.
