Clarendon College beat JC on penalties to retain Olivier Shield

Clarendon College are Olivier Shield champions for the 4th time after beating Manning Cup winners Jamaica College 4-1 on penalties in Saturday’s final at the National Stadium to retain the title as the curtain came down on the 2019 local schoolboy football season.

The teams were locked in a 0-0 deadlock up to the 89th minute when Shanae Thomas converted from close range for JC.  That advantage didn’t last for long as goalkeeper Prince Daniel Smith produced some late drama to tap home from a corner kick and equalize for Clarendon College in time added on for stoppages.

In the resulting penalty shootout, Clarendon College converted their first four kicks, while JC could only manage to score one of their first three.
