Cup holders Central Titans may miss out on the chance to get a second outright victory in a row in the Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA)Super League as rain halted play on day one of their contest at the Melbourne Oval against the Eastern Eagles. The Eagles were looking good though when the rain came in the post lunch session as they reached 106-2 with Stephen Pink scoring an even 50 and Richard Allen 41 not out.
Jeavour Royal 1-13 and Christopher Powell with 1-30, are the wicket takers thus far. Allen and Guyanese former West Indies player Asad Fudadin who is on 6, will be at the crease when play resumes on Sunday. Meanwhile, Northern Panthers were 93-3 against Southern Seals at French Park when rain stopped play
Alwyn Williams 53, has so far top-scored for the visitors. Keemo Wallace claimed 2-20. At Trelawny Stadium, Combined Universities and Colleges were dismissed for 201 against the Western Warriors.
Romaine Morris 55, Paul Palmer 46 and David Bird 26 led the scoring for the university team as Paul Harrison claimed 5-61, while Leighton Leslie 2-7 and Dennis Bulli 2-55, were also among the wicket takers. When rain and bad light stopped play, Western Warriors closed on 87-3.
Vinroy Crooks 43 and Raewin Senior 27, shared in an unbroken fourth wicket stand of 60 for the warriors who were reeling at 27-3. Kenneil Green has so far taken 2-37 for the Combined University team.
