Dr Emir Crowne identifies shortcoming in Flemmings' USL investigation

Voice of sports lawyer Dr Emir Crowne

Well known sports attorney Dr Emir Crowne has not ruled out the issue of race playing a factor in the suspension of Reggae Boyz forward Junior Flemmings from the United Soccer League.

Flemmings was given a 6 match ban, effectively ruling him out of the entire playoffs of the competition after being found guilty of using foul and abusive language in a regular season match against the San Diego Loyal.

The USL said in a statement that it reached the decision after interviewing 11 individuals, but Crowne who spoke with Radio Jamaica Sports previously about the matter, says he has since gone back to look deeper into the incident and says one main piece of detail is missing, noting that it hasn’t been reported that any of the 11 individuals said to have been interviewed during the investigation, confirmed hearing the homophobic slur.

Flemmings was awarded the Golden Boot for the season a few days ago after emerging the top goal scorer in the regular season with 14 goals from 14 appearances.
