Effects of COVID-19 force RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation Awards to be revised

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Jordan Forte

There will be no National Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year for 2020. The RJRGLEANER Sports Foundation has announced a revised version of the awards ceremony. According to a media release sent out on Friday, the People's Choice Performance of the Year award, category awards, team awards, youth awards and ISSA schools' awards have also been cancelled for this year.

Instead, this year's awards ceremony will be presented as a one hour television package featuring a Lifetime Achievement Award, the Chairman's Award and the Certificates of Merit.

Athletes who had performances worthy of merit in areas which were possible, will be highlighted at the ceremony.

The 60th edition of the awards ceremony will be broadcast on Friday, January 22, 2021 beginning at 8:35 pm on TVJ.
