Excelsior and Garvey Maceo to meet in ISSA girls football final

Defending champions Excelsior High will face Garvey Maceo in the final of the ISSA TIP Friendly Society Girls Football competition after semi-final wins at the Wembley Centre in Clarendon on Monday afternoon.

Playing in the day's second semi-final, Excelsior defeated Camperdown 4-1 on the back of a hattrick from captain and national youth representative Davia Richards.

Richards opened the scoring for the champions in the 34th minute, but Camperdown drew level in minute 51 through Alliyeah McAnuff.

However, Richards added a second just two minutes later before Shaniel Buckley scored a third for Excelsior in the 71st minute. Richards popped up two minutes later to complete the 4-1 victory.

Meanwhile, in the day's opener, Garvey Maceo led by a double from Shanae Hunt, dispatched of Holmwood Technical 3-0.

Keiba Cowan opened the scoring for Garvey Maceo in the 18th minute before Hunt scored a second in the 63rd.

Hunt then put the tie out of reach, scoring her team's third in the 74th minute. The final and third place playoff will be contested on Friday at Jamaica College.
