Raymond Grant who worked as General Secretary of the JFF up until the recent election of a new president says the local football governing body will stand no blame for the owning of money to the Reggae Boyz following their second place finish at this year’s CONCACAF Gold Cup.
The Reggae Boyz who lost 2-1 to the United States were to receive US $500,000 for their runner-up placing but two months on, and there is still no word on the prize money. However, Grant says it’s not the fault of the JFF.
“This is solely because we are yet to receive these monies from CONCACAF. We are in discussions with CONACAF regarding the payment and they have advised us that we will receive the full payment as soon as they have completed a review as it relates to being able to reconcile on all the accounts,” said Grant. The JFF account is currently in the red as they are operating at a loss with debts totalling over $265 million.
