Netball Jamaica has confirmed the inclusion of a national men's team as the replacement for South Africa in next month's Sunshine Series which will also feature host Jamaica and Trindad and Tobago.
The world number 5 ranked South Africa withdrew from the series last week citing rising Covid-19 cases in Jamaica.
Netball Jamaica president Trisha Robinson says the national men's team will provide the necessary challenge for both the Sunshine Girls and the Calypso Girls.
With the Netball Jamaica being forced to find an alternative team belatedly, Robinson explained that there has been an adjustment to the dates for the series which will now start on Ocotber 14.
The series will see the Sunshine Girls returning to competitive action for first time since January 2020.
The series which will be held in honour of Netball Jamaica’s first president Magaret Beckford will be played without spectators at the National Indoor Sports Centre.
The Sunshine Girls are also expected to travel to England for a three match series from November 28 to December 5.
