JC star smashes Class 1 boys 400m hurdles record at "Champs"

Javier Brown of Jamaica College highlighted the action on Friday’s penultimate day of the 110th ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys & Girls Athletics Championships.

Brown recorded 49.86 seconds to land the Class 1 boys 400m hurdles, erasing the old record of 49.94 seconds set by Rovane Williams of Rhodes Hall High in 2018.  

Devontie Archer of Excelsior (50.43) and Roshawn Clarke of Camperdown (50.93) secured silver and bronze respectively.

In the meantime, defending girls champions Edwin Allen continue to lead the points table after 27 finals. The Clarendon-based school has amassed 213 points ahead of St Jago 187.5 and Hydel 161.5.

Holmwood Technical sit fourth on 65.5 points, while Vere Technical round out the top five with 49 points. Title holders Kingston College lead the standing after 24 finals on the boys side. KC has tallied 187 points ahead of Jamaica College 179.5 points with Calabar on 144 points sitting third. 

St Elizabeth Technical 93 points and St Jago 63 points complete the top five. Saturday's final day begins at 10:00 am with live coverage on TVJ, TVJ SN, 1spotmedia, Hitz 92 FM and Power 106 FM.
