JCA to advertise coaching position

The Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) will be forced to look elsewhere for a replacement head coach for the Jamaica Scorpions team following Robert Haynes' appointment as interim chairman of selectors for Cricket West Indies. JCA Public Relations Officer Garth Williams says the local governing body will soon advertise for the position.

Haynes who had previously held a selector's role with the Caribbean team, was appointed interim coach of the Scorpions in December, replacing Robert Samuels. Haynes had signalled his intention to stay in the post following the completion of the 4-day season.

His appointment as interim chairman of selectors for the West Indies team means he will not be considered as a candidate to replace Samuels. Another Jamaican, Andre Coley also expressed an interest in the Scorpions job as his contract with the Leeward Islands Hurricanes is set to come to an end this year.
