JFF Gen. Sec. downplays effects of Reggae Girlz assistant coach's resignation

Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) General Secretary Dalton Wint is seeking to downplay the impact of the resignation of another national coach. Lorne Donaldson who has been a part of the Reggae Girlz programme since 2014, after being invited by Reggae Girlz Ambassador Cedella Marley, tendered his resignation on Sunday.

In his letter of resignation, Donaldson cited his decision on the “questionable integrity and lack of professionalism within the leadership of the JFF”. However, JFF General Secretary Dalton Wint says Donaldson's remarks are furthest from the mark.

Donaldson's resignation was also triggered by built-up frustration with the JFF  which also has to do with a lack of salary payment. The former national player also accused the JFF of blatantly disregarding the sacrifices of the coaching staff and the Reggae Girlz, something that goes back to the girlz’ final World Cup Qualifying Game in Texas.

Donaldson's replacement must be found for the youth teams ahead of the Under 20 CONCACAF Qualifiers in February and the Under-17s in March. Goalkeeper coach Hubert Busby is now temporarily in charge of the senior Reggae Girlz where he’s assisted by Andrew Price.
