KC and St Jago lead tables after Day 1 of "Champs 2021"

Defending champions Kingston College and St Jago are leading the boys’ and girls’ sections after Tuesday's opening day of the ISSA Grace Kennedy Boys and Girls Athletics Championships at the National Stadium. KC are on 56-and-a-half points, while St Jago head the girls section on 82 points,

The “Purples” were denied a clean sweep of the boys’ sprint hurdles, as they ended day one with the advantage over their rivals.

In the field, Kavian Kerr used his final jump to capture the boys class 1 long jump in dramatic fashion with a 7.81 metre mark, snatching the gold from Calabar's Luke Brown 7.65m, while Uroy Ryan of Jamaica College was third with 7.47m.

On the girls’ side Hydel captured two of the four hurdles events, while St Jago’s Shantae Foreman who is participating at “Champs’ for the final time, scaled a personal best 1.84 metres to win the Class 1 girls high jump.
