Laban captures main event at Caymans Park

Richard Azan's 5 year old bay horse Laban under champion jockey Anthony Thomas, captured Sunday's main event at Caymanas Park, the non-restricted Overnight Allowance contest over 7 furlongs.

Laban who went off at 5-2, produced a late burst in deep stretch to beat Big Big Daddy, Positive Id and Eagle One who completed the frame. Laban returned 1:26.1 for the distance to win by a length and a half.
 
Meanwhile, champion jockey Anthony Thomas had a double to reduce the lead by Dane Dawkins in the race for the jockey's championship to 4 wins.

Thomas won aboard the 6-5 favourite Okahumpka in race 5 and closed out his double astride Laban.

Veteran jockey Paul "Country" Francis and trainer Edward Stanberry teamed up for a double on the 9-race card.
