Late start to 2020 schoolboy football season

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Renardo Brown

There will be a late start to this year's ISSA schoolboy football competitions as following Tuesday's meeting with the coaches and ISSA representatives, it was decided that the season will not start as usual in September. The schoolboy football season usually runs little over three months, but this season could see it being played over a longer period.

Indications are that the competitions will not start before October 1. There will also be no team training before July 1. At Tuesday's web conference, to discuss the format , coaches were asked for their proposals as to how the competitions could be run due to the late start.

Radio Jamaica Sports understands that some even proposed that the competitions be played throughout the school year. ISSA president Keith Wellington says a final decision will not be made until the end of June.
