Leading jockey out of action for two days after spill at exercise

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Denise Walters

Champion apprentice and leading rider Oshane Nugent wil be absent from Saturday’s 10 race card at Caymanas Park after falling from his mount at exercise on Friday.

Nugent who leads the jockeys' standings with 13 wins, had secured 8 mounts on the programme including Father Patrick who is seeking a hattrick of wins in the Eileen Cliggott Memorial Trophy a Graded Stakes/Open Allowance event over 6 and a half furlongs.

Radio Jamaica Sports understands that Dane Dawkins is among the jockeys on standby to replace Nugent aboard Father Patrick.

However, the panel of Operation Stewards will make a decision on Saturday. 10 races are on the cards with first post set for 11:40 a.m. Live racing coverage will be on Power 106 FM.
