Mills warns of possible low Tokyo Olympics medal tally for Jamaica

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Kayon Raynor

Veteran track and field coach Glen Mills is sounding the alarm that Jamaica could be in for paltry returns at this summer's Tokyo Olympics, noting that the shutdown of meets has been robbing athletes of crucial preparation time.

Mills who, guided the career of Usain Bolt to 8 Olympic and 11 World Championship gold medals, says things are looking bleak for the nation’s current charges, the bulk of which train locally.

Mills, while cognisant of the concerns over the COVID-19 spreading locally, remains confident that the JAAA can stage meets successfully. On March 22, the government rescinded initial approvals given to the JAAA to host a series of trials meets.
