4-time Jamaican champion jockey Dane Nelson won his biggest race in Canada so far this season, having done so over the weekend at the Century Mile race track in Edmonton.
Nelson guided the even money favourite Dance Shoes to an impressive victory in a $50,000 stakes contest for 3 year olds and up over 6 furlongs on the dirt.
Nelson has now ridden 17 winners from 84 mounts to sit second in the jockey's championship, three behind the leader Enrique Alonzo Gonzalez.
Meanwhile, another Jamaican jockey, Shamaree Muir, rode his first winner of the season at the same track this past weekend as well.
The 2022 season at Century Mile began on April 30 and is slated to end on November 5.
