Netball Jamaica executive members were seemingly blindsided by comments made by Sunshine Girls head coach Connie Francis about potentially walking away from the job.
In a gleaner article on Thursday, Francis was quoted as saying: "I have a four-year contract and I have some players I really enjoy coaching, but for now, I just need a break."
Francis also admitted that at times she had been overwhelmed by the pressure of the job.
When contacted, a member of the Netball Jamaica executive told Radio Jamaica Sports that there was no mention of this from Francis prior to the article.
Radio Jamaica Sports also understands that experts were brought in prior to the team's departure for the Commonwealth Games to provide support for Francis and the players in helping them deal with mental health challenges.
In the meantime, former Sunshine Girls assistant coach Winston Nevers believes Francis should take the time away from coaching before making a decision.
Nevers adds that he expects Francis to stay on until at least the World Cup next year.
